For the Matthew Hill Foundation - "The good of No-shave November is to grow awareness by embracing our hair, which many cancer patients lose =, and letting it grow wild and free. Donate the money you typically spend on shaving and grooming to educate about cancer prevention , save lives =, and aid those fighting the battle."

I urge all brothers to support this cause, what's more, I dedicate this month of November to you through what I'm going to label 'BRO-vember', however I'd prefer if we didn't pay attention to certain issues including men's health once a month. There are certain other issues which I'd also like to spend some time addressing within the next two months. These include conversations around mental health , more from the alternative industry and what the 'woke nation' constitutes and who needs to wake up before 2017 among other things. But for now, I ask that we all direct our attention for a couple of moments to the fellas and their natural hair.

I personally have always been a big fan of males embracing their natural hair since my eyes met with Maxwell's a long time ago, (yes through the television screen but that is not the point here). For one, I also think it is time that we change the negative conceptions linked to natural hair, especially the idea that for males, growing your hair out is a lazy act, or that one needs to groom it (and by grooming they mean cut it off). This is a misconception considering it takes effort to maintain and actually keep one;s hair healthy.

I sat down with Alex who is a second year Economic & Computational and Applied Math student (mouthful isn't it?) , who aspires to be an entrepreneur. While discussing his hair, Alex explained that he has been rocking his natural hair since he completed high school in 2012, conditioning everyday and using olive oil straight out of the kitchen. This , according to my hair doctor whom I've already introduced you to is a good thing for the reason that hair needs to lock moisture in as shampoo dries the hair. Moisture is essential for growth.

WONDER BOX

In case you were wondering... Here's a little more to this week's brother

Hair type: Combination 3b and 3c

Background: His father is from Zimbabwe, while his mother is from Cyprus. This gives insight to the combination hair

In his spare time he- plays piano and guitar, and explains that this is for therapeutic reasons and does not actually aspire to break into the music industry

When asked to describe himself in one sentence, Alex simply narrowed the sentence down to one word- more

In this regard , this means there are no limits to who he is or what he can do.

Lastly, Alex has one message for you all, a message I think should be taken to heart- "Brothers please grow your hair"
