Firstly Compliments of the new season even though the season is not so new seeing that this year is already seventeen days old. On the other hand , we should treat every day as if it’s new years day (and by that I don’t mean stay up until 12 am everyday and celebrate with kisses and fireworks), but rather to try and make the present and the future, better than the past by setting positive goals which will only enhance our lives. I learned a little bit more of how to do so through my own edition of retail therapy.

Over the festive period I took the opportunity to work in a retail store and at the time I felt that perhaps it was not a good idea to give up two months of my vacation period. Honestly seven hours on your feet everyday is no joke and to do so smiling is even more of a challenge, nevertheless I took a lot home with me.

To begin with I have a lot more respect for people working in the retail industry. I still find myself putting things back in to place and fixing racks according to sizes when I go shopping but in addition to this habit, there are others: - Morning meetings still take place ,the only difference is that I have them by myself , with myself and for myself. - Everyday a new target is set- these are not only my daily goals but my motivation as well. -I look at how I did yesterday and what else I can do to improve -and then I clap for myself (in my mind) , as we did for the departments which did well, if I’ve reached my daily targets. Being courteous has also stuck like bubblegum under a table, and I still feel the need to greet each and every person that passes by. I am also no longer an amateur at smiling at strangers and do so unconsciously. Although at the time it didn’t feel like the best thing in the world but I’m glad I did it . I made some money (which is all gone), met a bunch of great people, added some experience to my CV AND pocketed all these qualities.

It's always a good idea to start everything we do with a positive mindset with Hope that the outcome will be positive too, as said by Bob Marley - "Just can't live that negative way, Make way for the positive day"
