In the process of taking care, and paying more attention to my skin I am learning a lot of new things. Especially, by using and exploring the properties of ingredients which are already in the household.
Different ingredients (fruits for now), play different roles in the skin regime I am trying to put together.
My super-fruit for August is Grapefruit, more specifically, sweet marsh grapefruit. It takes on the role of the ‘toner’ in my skin regime.

The function of the toner is to complete the cleansing of your skin. As a result, it removes any dust, pollution or impurities that can still be left remaining after one washes with a cleanser. This is because cleansers normally include oils which can leave a glaze on your face.
The grapefruit peel has a natural enzyme called bromelain which helps remove old layers of dead skin cells and replace them with new ones, hence it is used as a toner.
So as far as a skin regimen, I use a johnsons cleanser with warm water and rinse it off with cold water before rubbing the grape fruit peel on my skin, leaving it on while I brush my teeth and then washing it off, moisturizing thereafter and finishing the process with sunscreen!
